Federal Member for Bowman, Henry Pike MP was proud to host a free Australia Day Sausage Sizzle at Raby Bay Beach on Australia Day, as locals celebrated Australia Day and the values that unite our nation.
Raby Bay Beach was filled with locals of all ages enjoying the sunshine, the coastline and a strong sense of community as families, friends and neighbours marked Australia’s national day together.
“It was wonderful to see so many Redlanders out enjoying our beautiful beaches and celebrating Australia Day,” Mr Pike said.
“The atmosphere was overwhelmingly patriotic,” continued Mr Pike. “Thousands of local families and friends spent the day on the beach celebrating our great nation and enjoying everything that makes Australia such a special place to call home.”
“Everyday Australians are proud of their country and proud to celebrate Australia Day” stated Mr Pike.
Mr Pike currently has legislation tabled before Parliament to protect Australia Day. Pike’s Australia Day Bill 2025 would provide Australia Day the same legislative protections as the Australian flag, ensuring our national day cannot be able to be changed without the approval of the Australian people through a national plebiscite.
Support for the Bill continues to grow, with Mr Pike’s petition now signed by more than 73,500 Australians nationwide.
“26 January is Australia Day and should not be changed without approval by the Australian people.” said Mr Pike.
“Australians are tired of their national day being used as a political plaything. Australia Day is 26 January and deserves the same protections we have for our national flag”.
