Australia’s history is worth protecting and defending.
Our Australian National Flag, Australia Day and the memorials that commemorate those who came before us are part of our national identity.
They represent our shared history, our freedoms and the sacrifices made to build and defend our country.
These symbols belong to the Australian people.
They should not be burned, desecrated, vandalised or quietly removed.
Yet we continue to see activists attack our national symbols, vandalise our memorials and statues and attempt to cancel Australia Day.
That’s why the Coalition will introduce the Australian National Symbols and Heritage Protection Act to:

- Protect the Australian National Flag from being burned and desecrated in public by activists.
- Legislate Australia Day as 26 January so the date cannot be changed without a vote of the Australian people.
- Protect our war memorials and other historic cultural sites from being damaged, defaced, removed or destroyed by those who hate our country and our history.
Our history and our heritage are WORTH DEFENDING.
