The Redlands community is set to benefit from over $1.3 million of investment in female sporting facilities across the city if Henry Pike and the Dutton Coalition Government are elected in May.
In a series of recent announcements, Mr Pike has announced that an LNP government will invest $550,000 in new female changerooms for the Alex Hills Bombers Australian Rules Football Club, $400,000 for Redlands United Football Club, and $400,000 for the Capalaba Bulldogs Football Club.
Mr Pike said he was excited to support these state-of-the-art female facilities that will serve as a huge step to address the shortage many clubs face in catering to the exploding demand of women’s sports.
‘In the Redlands, women’s sport is booming,’ Mr Pike said.
‘That’s why I’m asking for the community’s support to ensure we can deliver these vital projects for the Bulldogs, Bombers, and Redland United.’
‘These changerooms may seem like simple projects, but they are crucial to supporting women and girls playing their sports in the Redlands, giving them the same grassroots opportunities as our male athletes.’
Mr Pike said that this commitment would be an important step to support the Redland’s strong sporting culture.
‘Both of the association football clubs we’re committing to at this election have produced Matildas stars, while Australian rules football is going from strength to strength locally. There are so many fantastic up and coming athletes doing their bit here in the Redlands, so anything that government can do to support them is well worth investing in.’
‘I look forward to supporting our clubs and our athletes through these commitments to upgraded facilities that will transform these local football clubs.’
