Pike Commits to Cleveland Point CCTV Project to Restore Community Safety

Federal Member for Bowman, Henry Pike MP, has announced that if elected in May, a Dutton Coalition Government will commit $300,000 to restore safety in Cleveland Point by installing permanent surveillance cameras and increasing security to deter antisocial behaviour.

In making this announcement, Mr Pike said this project was a win for the entire Cleveland community.

‘Cleveland Point is one of the most stunning spots in the Redlands, but sadly, locals have told me how in the evenings this area is transforming into an antisocial, disruptive hooning hotspot.’

‘Public safety is paramount, and this commitment will restore the safe community and quality of life that this dangerous behaviour has threatened.’

To combat this activity, Redland City Council have in recent years mobilised temporary surveillance cameras to reduce these activities.

Mr Pike and the Coalition’s commitment will build upon their efforts by ensuring that these safety cameras are a permanent, visible deterrence, something

Mr Pike said was also necessary a few years ago.

‘At the previous federal election, I fought for this funding. Sadly, the Labor Government did not commit to this important program for Cleveland.’

‘That’s why I’m asking for the community’s support so under a Dutton Coalition Government, we can finally secure this permanent project to keep Cleveland safe.’
