Pike Calls Out Federal Budget’s Failure to Invest in the Redlands

The Federal Member for Bowman, Henry Pike MP has condemned the short-term thinking of the Albanese Government’s Federal Budget, warning that this last-ditch effort designed to win votes before an election fails to make a meaningful difference for Redlanders who are doing it tough.

“As cost-of-living pressures have piled up for everyday Australians, we need a budget that addresses the major concerns of our community, and sets us up for the next five years,” Mr Pike said.

“Australians want to see policies that deliver affordable homes, keep Australians safe, deliver quality healthcare and reduce energy costs. They want to see local projects supported, alongside sensible economic management that reins in negligent spending and reduces inflation.”

“Unfortunately, this Budget fails to deliver for Australians, and is only focused on the next five weeks.”

Mr Pike said that for Redlanders, this is yet another budget that leaves the city behind.

“What Redlanders need is a commitment to our hospital, details on the Capalaba metro,  improved mobile reception, and support for local initiatives through the Stronger Communities Program and Local Road and Community Infrastructure Program.”

“Unfortunately, we’ve seen none of these essential projects receive any federal support in last night’s budget.”

“This Government have failed to fix the cost-of-living crisis they have created, and neglected to invest in our growing Redlands community.”
