The Redlands District University of the Third Age (U3A) has long been a cornerstone for seniors in our community, offering affordable education, activities, and social opportunities that keep locals over 50 active, connected, and thriving.
This year marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for U3A, as the organisation celebrates the completion of its purpose-built centre in Cleveland. This development has been made possible by community donations and a $250,000 commitment from the Crisafulli LNP State Government.
Building on this momentum, Henry Pike MP has announced that, if a Dutton Coalition Government is elected at this year’s federal election, $500,000 will be committed to establish a new U3A ‘community hub’ to complement the centre.
This hub will enhance U3A’s ability to provide high-quality lifelong learning and social interaction opportunities, ensuring its programs remain accessible as local demand grows.
“U3A is about more than just learning – it’s about empowering our seniors to stay engaged, active, and socially connected,” Mr. Pike said.
“This new hub will help U3A Redlands expand its reach and continue to make a real difference in people’s lives.”
The U3A ‘community hub’ will offer additional facilities designed to meet the needs of Redlands seniors, providing an inviting space for classes, events, and social activities.
By supporting U3A, the investment strengthens the social fabric of the region and ensures the organisation’s continued growth and success.
“This is about enriching the lives of our seniors and ensuring they have the resources they need to live life to the fullest. I’ll be asking for your support at this year’s election to help make this vision a reality,” Mr Pike said.
U3A Redlands is already a thriving hub of activity, and this $500,000 commitment represents the next step in its evolution, cementing its role as a vital resource for seniors in the Redlands for years to come.
