The Redlands RSL Sub-Branch will receive $85,053 from the 2025-26 Veteran Wellbeing Grants Program to replace the leaking roof at its Cleveland headquarters, Federal Member for Bowman, Henry Pike MP has announced.
Mr Pike said the funding would ensure the Redlands RSL Sub-Branch could continue providing a safe, welcoming and functional space for veterans, their families and the wider community.
"I am very pleased the Veterans Wellbeing Grant Program has delivered funding to replace the leaking roof, helping to maintain this important and historic community asset.”
"Our veterans deserve facilities that are safe and fit for purpose.
This funding will ensure the Redlands RSL Sub-Branch has facilities that match the invaluable role it continues to play in supporting veterans, their families and our community," Mr Pike said.
The Redlands RSL began in the years immediately following World War I, when returned servicemen came together to support one another and honour those who had not returned. It was officially established as a RSL Sub-Branch on 11 May 1925.
For more than a century, it has served the Redlands community, providing welfare and advocacy for veterans while preserving local military heritage and leading Anzac Day services and memorials events.
The Redlands RSL Sub-Branch also proudly leads one of Queensland’s most well attended ANZAC Day commemorations, with its services attracting thousands of attendees each year.
Mr Pike highlighted the history of the Redlands RSL Sub-Branch and the vital role it plays in supporting veterans and preserving the legacy of service in the Redlands.
"Over the last 100 years the Redlands RSL Sub-Branch is a place where veterans find support, camaraderie and connection, while bringing together our community to honour those who have served our nation,” said Mr Pike. "This investment will help ensure the headquarters remains a safe and welcoming place for many years to come."
Mr Pike thanked the Redlands RSL Sub-Branch committee and volunteers for their dedication.
