Bowman covers the Redlands Council area to the east of Brisbane, including a string of suburbs fronting Moreton Bay. It also includes North Stradbroke Island. From north to south Bowman includes the suburbs of Thorneside, Wellington Point, Birkdale, Alexandra Hills, Capalaba, Ormiston, Cleveland, Thornlands, Victoria Point, Redland Bay and all of the populated Moreton Bay islands. The electorate covers 536 square kilometres.
Created in 1949, this electorate is named after David Bowman, a former Queensland state MP.
